EuroVelo 6 - Day 37 - Budapest Rest Day

Rest Day in Budapest - Peobably 8miles on foot!🤦‍♂️

7 October, '23

Budapest is one truly great city. All the splender and architectural beauty of Vienna and yet with some of the earthly size and approachability of Bratislava. However you see it, these three Sister cities is three countries are all hugely worth visiting, but if you could only visit one, my choice would be Budapest. And you know what? With only one day, like the others, we only scratched the surface and never even got to see or take the waters of  the bathes.

This rest day, soon after Vienna was indeed another necessity. Big miles, big loads, often headwinded, and as we had some fortune against our plan it was divine providence.

We visited St. Stephens cathedral, the Opera House and the Jewish Quarter on the Buda Side of The Danube. And the castle and associated areas on the Pest side thus crossing the chain bridge twice on foot. We visited several parks by using them as cut throughs. We also took advice from friends and family that helped us find a great 'ruins' pub called Szimpla for an 'end of the day' drink.

Our evening was a little more routine finding Paul back slaving away in the kitchen knocking up yet another great dinner. This time a pea and ham hotpot!

Packing also commenced for and early getaway with over 100km to pedal tomorrow!
