Chalon s/ Soane to St. Jean de Losne -- 44 miles
Back in the saddles after Rest Day no. 2!! Although just 5days since our last rest day we really did need it because of mileages and temperatures!! Killer Stuff!!
We both slept like logs on the beautiful boat 'Les Vieux Papillion' of Jehan&Jim! After dinner they insisted we stay with them rather than in our tents under heavy rainfall.... as we're 2 wks in we felt we deserved some creature comforts! The bourbon did help too!
We set off after morning coffee at 0730 for the 20min schlep to the campsite to strike camp and strike out into the rain!! Warm and light was OK... Unlike in the night, @Wild&Woolly!! A short day of just 44 miles meant we arrived at our destination with time to spare for pleasantries!! Hallelujah!!
This place is most well known to Paul&Deb as it's not only a transit point for their boating adventures in Europe, but also a favourite home of 'Peary' during the winter's rest for them&HMS Peary!! As the rain continued all day, and we were rather damp upon arrival we elected for a static caravan so as to keep everything dry and support an
early start for a 90km day! Next rest day 7days hence!!🤞😎🙏
Paul and I are now 2 weeks into our Europe Coast2Coast Ride and I am most humbled as......
1- we are about 50% towards our MND/ALS Fundraising target of £5000+ Can$1000+ US$2000!! Thanks to all our supporters thus far!
2- the depth of character of all the wonderful people we have met along to way so far, all nations, men/women, lone travellers and duos (like us!), and the magnitude of their feats, past and present!
3 - the majesty of the world in which we live (and the great food, beer and wine) and what can be achieved when we cooperate with our fellow folk.
4 - how we should learn from our European Friends as they exhibit some of the truest expressions of community that I think I have ever seen!
If you are new to Paul and my challenge please read our Blog at....
https://eurovelo6ramsaybergson2023.blogspot.com/
The first blog post gives the full backstory to our quest!
But in essence it's a 5000km bike ride to support MND/ALS across the 3 great nations I've been fortunate enough to come home!
Please support us if you can, and haven't yet done so already!
Doug&Paul
