Beyond Besançon to L'lle S/ Les Doubs 65 km, 39mi
We got treated to breakfast today by our wonderful neighbours! A croissant each from our Swiss neighbours, and our Dutch neighbours Lende and Lucas gave us a marvellous coffee to go with the croissant. They also provided a coffee last night upon our arrival from our Killer 100km ride.... we must have looked a site!! But after that cracking meal a la Paul le Chef we were rejuvenated and ready for sleep.
I stayed up to 'try' to get my blogpost written, but I kept falling asleep in my chair, and then repeating myself, repeating myself, repeating myself.... 3 times til I admitted defeat and turned in!
As the blog wasn't done I stayed at the campsite and gave Paul an hour's head start! With that all done, and a bit of light maintenance I hit the trail about 10.
And what a trail it is!! The most beautiful and gentle Doub River serenely carving it's way betwix and between majestic limestone escarpment faces. Much of it looks amazingly like Mt. Nemo and Rattlesnake Point where I used to rockclimb in Canada with my great friend Jim Fothergill!!
Coffee at LaBeaumes de Dames (Bombs Away Ladies!) and back on the river! Between Paul's head start and my relaxed demeanor we never did reconnect today, a bit of a respite break for Paul from my incessant chatting! Back together tomorrow for sure as I'm getting on top of my 'to do' list!
Had a 'Paris Brest' cake after a 'small snack. I havw never had one before and it won't be my last. Choux pastry fashioned into a bicycle wheel shape and then filled to groaning with a light chocolate coffee flavoured cream filling, adorned with toasted almonds and dusted with icing sugar.....My Seefood diet suggests I may well need
a second one!!🤭🤙
Finally met Paul at campsite! He has all the fixings to allow me to make my signature dish of Lamb Rogan Josh!! Curry was once again a cracker, but we both felt Curry #1 was slightly superior.... I must try harder!!
2222h.... Night night, TTFN!
#ToughLife😎🤙
