Krems an der Donau to Vienna - 95km 57 miles
After yesterday's stonking tail wind and us making good progress against a c. 2½ days riding we started out with Vienna in our sights with just over 90km to do. For the first morning in 3 weeks we enjoyed very dry atmospheric conditions! So, no dew and our tents were dry, last night's laundry was almost dry too!!
Paul seems to operate one time zone ahead of me... 1 hr earlier to bed at night, some part of an hour out of his tent before I'm out of mine in the morning, and yes, apart from one morning, ready to depart sooner too! So he headed out solo and me about 45 mins later, and we arrived at our first coffee place within minutes of eachother in Tulln, so that plan worked a treat!! But with our first stop at +50km we were both starving, as no solid food was available for our breakfast this am!! We made up for it with two enormous patisseries each!
Now with over half of the day done, and leaving our coffee stop by midday day, Vienna was assured! A building tailwind also helped considerably to give us a boost on our 4th flat day running. The wind was not quite as strong as yesterday, but it still supported almost 30km/hr for long periods.
Into camp by 3:30 along some fabulous trails coming into Vienna including an island park that must have been almost 15km in length. All of Vienna's great and good were out on bikes today, also roller blades, on foot, scooters, single wheelers and a bullet bike!
Our long awaited rest day is finally here, with 8 days continous riding and over 450 miles completed on this stretch we're both bush whacked!! But we are still smack on schedule to the day!!
Off to see Vienna now!
Auf weidersen,
Doug&Paul
